Guatemala, Antigua, Honduras, El Salvador, now Nicaragua and border crossing ...lots in few days
Sorry I couldn't post anything today but I was in a hurry to cross to Honduras and leave ASAP because the political problems out there. The border in El espino was closed and there was only one pass in Guasuale that I used today.
The border crossing is a complete new experience, it takes about two and a half to three hours per country and you have to do not only your personal papers but also import and export the bike. Believe me is a challenge going through all the paperwork and stuff, without any doubt is the more difficult thing after my problem with the fan in Hermosillo.
Today I'm in Nicaragua (Leon ) and tomorrow I'll be crossing to Costa Rica late in the day.
When I crossed to Guatemala I meet Saul Merida and his dad Jorge, they both works in the motorbike business and are fanatic bikers.
We rode with Saul to Antigua where we spend the night and went for dinner. Antigua is beautiful and is full of tourism. This is a good tip....... you want to learn Spanish at a very convenient price in a super place?....Antigua is your destination; they built this business of Spanish teaching surrounded by a Colonial environment and really good restaurants and bars, very bohemian.
After Guatemala I crossed to El Salvador where I spent the nigth (yesterday) in San Miguel; wake up very early and drove to the border with Honduras (El Amarillo) crossed Honduras up to Guasuale and now I'm in Nicaragua, today was a long day.......
Please check the pics I'll try to add more but there are so many animals loose and traffic that is really a challenge to take pictures while driving. Hope you enjoy I'll do a more detail summary of the crossing and lodging afterwards for those who are willing to try in the future,
Cheers
Jorge
